In last week's NY Times a great photo by Loao Silva showed Captain Logan Veath trying to negotiate with Iraqi soldiers who were abandoning their positions. Ummm, does the whole army look like Kramer?

"We take a lot of them out with us on patrol, so they're well on their way to becoming soldiers, and we train them every chance we get," said Riddle, who was shot in the arm by a sniper on Feb. 14 in Taji, Iraq.
Spc. Gage Skrdla, 23, of Wichita, Kan., agreed with Riddle.
"They're willing to learn, and they're learning," said Skrdla, who was wounded Nov. 14 by a roadside bomb in Baghdad. "You know, that's what's important. They're still a young army, just trying to rebuild. They don't have the discipline that we do, but they're seeing how we work our strategies, and they're learning from it, and it's making them better."
But I understand there are other styles of reporting and I'm sure Tokyo Rose would be proud of you.
Tokyo Rose is my cook. She makes a hell of a sukiyaki. I just never talk about politics with her. But if I did she'd say: never go to war without a plan or enough troops or some idea of the culture of the people whose country you're invading. If you don't, she'd continue, then all of Raul's spin couldn't save your poor, sorry a**. Alas.
