Brodner's Person of the Day: Fernando Botero
Illustration and Text By

Fernando Botero, protean Colombian artist, who found the portal for his outrage at Abu Ghraib using his rotund and voluptuous figures (not readily associated with anguish and violence), in the telling of the torture story. It is brave and deeply personal work. But, as in all great illustration (narrative art) it is first and foremost, about the story. Here's some of the show, recently at the Marlboro Gallery, coming soon to the American University's Katzen Arts Center in DC.
